Marc Pingris: “First time ko sa buong buhay ko na makayakap ng isang ama talaga”
MARC PINGRIS — The basketball player recently spoke about meeting his father, Jean Marc Pingris Sr., for the first time.
Marc and his father spent 25 years without knowing about each other and he only got to meet his father when he was already 26.
In an episode of “Surprise Guest with Pia Arcangel” podcast, Marc admitted that he initially didn’t want to meet up with his father anymore, but his wife Danica Sotto told him to think of it as his “gift” for their wedding.
After they tied the knot in March 2007, Marc and Danica flew to Amsterdam for the meet-up. Even then, the basketball player was still hesitant to push through with their plan.

His wife gave him a pep talk, which led to Marc cooperating and complying with their plan. Later on, Marc realized that it’s one of the best decisions he made in his life.
“First time ko sa buong buhay ko na makayakap ng isang ama talaga, ‘yung tunay na ama, wala akong nagawa kundi umiyak, at walang nagawa ang dad ko kundi umiyak,” Marc looked back. “Ang sarap. Sobrang sarap pala na mayakap mo ang tunay na ama mo.“
To recall, Jean Marc visited the Philippines for vacation in 2015 where he spent quality time with his son — including watching him play in court.
Danica Sotto and Marc Pingris got married in March 2007 and have two children — Jean Michael and Caela. The couple announced last June that they’re expecting their third child.
