A professor from Bicol University has a clever way to avoid her students from cheating, the anti-cheating hats
ANTI-CHEATING HATS – Some students of Bicol University College of Engineering wore handcrafted and one-of-a-kind hats to avoid being tempted to cheat during their midterm exams.
The creative idea to avoid them from copying the answers of their classmates was courtesy of Prof. Mary Joy Mandane-Ortiz.
It was on October 17-18, 2022 when Prof. Mary Joy conducted midterm examinations among her students taking up Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (BSME).
But before they take the exam, they are required to make anti-cheating hats which they should wear during the examinations.
According to her, midterm exams are usually stressful, pressuring, and scary that’s why she thought of having her students make anti-cheating hats to avoid them getting on the verge of cheating at the same time lighten the mood of her students having a hard time answering their exam.
The hats were made that way so that they could not see the paper next to them.
Prof. Mary said she got the idea from Facebook but did not expect that her students are too creative.
Some of the hats are inspired by anime characters. There were also designs which are common during the Halloween season.
On the other hand, the college professor believes that the integrity of a student taking an exam is important whether that student is wearing an anti-cheating hat or not.
She also thanked the netizens who reacted and shared the idea. She has also been featured in different media outlets thanks to her “pakulo.”
Of course, she gave bonus points for the creativity of her students.
