King Charles III bestowed on William and Kate the titles of Prince and Princess of Wales.
KING CHARLES III — Britain’s new monarch bestowed on William and Kate the titles of Prince and Princess of Wales.
On Friday (UK time), the King said in his statement to the nation since the death of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, that he’s proud to make his son the Prince of Wales, a title he had held since 1958.
“With Catherine (Kate) beside him, our new Prince and Princess of Wales will, I know, continue to inspire and lead our national conversations, helping to bring the marginal to the center ground where vital help can be given,” the King said.
“Queen Elizabeth was a life well lived; a promise with destiny kept and she is mourned most deeply in her passing. That promise of lifelong service I renew to you all today.”

The Prince and Princess of Wales were previously held by King Charles and his late wife Diana.
GMA News Online reported that William and Kate have taken on central roles within the royal family in recent years. The two appeared regularly in public and also took their three young children to events.
Based on a report, a royal source said that Kate appreciated the history associated with the title, but she would seek to create her own path as the Princess of Wales.

The King also expressed his love for Harry and Meghan as the two continued to build their lives overseas.
Meanwhile, the King recently held his first in-person audience with UK Prime Minister Liz Truss as the House of Commons continued to pay tribute to the late Queen.
Truss was welcomed to Buckingham Palace on Friday afternoon (UK time) to meet with King Charles III after earlier telling MPs that Queen Elizabeth II was “one of the greatest leaders the world has ever known“.
