Here’s what some netizens have to say on Vico Sotto welcoming PBBM to Pasig City
VICO SOTTO – The mayor of Pasig was canceled by some netizens after welcoming President Bongbong Marcos to the city.
Sotto is the son of actor-comedian-host Vic Sotto and actress Coney Reyes.
Sotto graduated from the Ateneo de Manila University in 2011 with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. He later pursued a Master of Arts in Public Management at the Ateneo School of Government and graduated in 2018.
Prior to entering politics, Sotto taught social science at Arellano University for one semester.
It was in 2019 when he was elected as mayor of Pasig, ending the 27-year rule of the Eusebio family over the Pasig mayoralty.
During the 2019 elections, he campaigned on a platform called, “Big V” (Big Five) Agenda, which promotes universal healthcare, housing programs, education, public consultation, and anti-corruption efforts.
In 2021, the United States Department of State recognized Sotto as one of 12 recipients of the International Anticorruption Champions Award for his efforts toward anti-corruption.
It was just recently when Vico Sotto welcomed PBBM to the city and the city’s vaccination center.
However, his welcoming of the president to the city was followed by criticism.
This, after his old tweet about former President Ferdinand Marcos Sr., was brought up anew.
It can be deduced that Sotto was once a staunch critic of the latter.
Here’s the tweet of some netizens:
But there were netizens who defended the 33-year-old politician.
According to a netizen, the mayor of Pasig City is just being professional.
Vico Sotto has yet to issue any statement on this matter.
