DOT To Launch Biggest Job Fair In PH Next Month

DOT: “The job fair will be a multi-month campaign and will conclude in May 2023”

DOT — On Saturday, the Department of Tourism announced that it will launch the biggest job fair in the Philippines that will give opportunities to Filipino job seekers, especially in the hospitality line of job.

Dubbed “Trabaho, Turismo, Asenso! Philippine Tourism Job Fair”, the job fair is set to be launched at the SMX Convention Center Manila in Mall of Asia Complex in Pasay City from September 22-24, 2022.

According to Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco, the DOT has already forged partnerships with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) in signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) set for August 30, 2022.

Frasco said that the job fair will be a “multi-month campaign” and will conclude in May 2023 to coincide with DOT’s 50th Founding Anniversary. She added that initial job fair locations will include Davao, Cebu, and Metro Manila.

The Tourism Secretary also said that the job fair will help the revitalization of the country’s tourism industry lacking manpower because of the coronavirus pandemic.

Aimed primarily at providing a bridge and impetus for employment opportunities in the tourism sector, we will be signing the MOU with Labor Secretary Bienvenido Laguesma,” she said.

Also, the Tourism Secretary talked to the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) to address the need for hospitality workers in Thailand, after Thailand’s Minister of Tourism and Sports (MOTS) Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn sought her assistance for a possible tourism exposition there.

Frasco noted that the job Fair will help Filipino job seekers find jobs while helping the accommodation and services sector address workforce shortages, resulting in the continued recovery of the country’s tourism industry as a whole.
