Will Pres. Bongbong Marcos Extend the State of Emergency Declaration in PH?
BONGBONG MARCOS – The President spoke on the possible decision over the fate of the state of emergency declaration in the Philippines.
The COVID-19 pandemic is undeniably one of the biggest global concerns that have affected a lot of countries. The Philippines is one of the nations that recorded cases of this disease that cost millions of lives across the globe.
The whole PH remains under a state of calamity now and the entire nation is still under restrictions. Meanwhile, following the drop in the COVID cases in the previous month, Metro Manila and most areas in the country are under Alert Level 1, the loosest quarantine measure.
The “State of Emergency” declaration in the Philippines is set to expire next month. Previously, Malacañang said that the decision is up to the Department of Health (DOH). The health department called for amendments in the law to the senators.
Recently, Pres. Bongbong Marcos spoke on the possible decision regarding the “state of emergency” declaration in the Philippines. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, the 64-year-old Chief Executive said that the decision is, most likely, to extend the declaration.
Pres. Bongbong Marcos said that the Philippines receives assistance from the international medical community while it is under a state of emergency. The support will also stop if the state of emergency will be lifted.
The President said that he is talking to DOH Undersecretary and officer-in-charge Dr. Maria Rosaro Vergeire. Based on the report, he is eyeing the extension of the state of emergency declaration in the Philippines until the end of 2022.
Currently, the authorities continue to urge the people to get their vaccines and boosters against the COVID-19 pandemic. The World Health Organization (WHO) previously reminded countries that the pandemic is “nowhere near over”.
