HARRY ROQUE – The former presidential spokesperson claimed that he gets only P20 as private legal counsel of President Bongbong Marcos.

One of the popular personalities in Philippine politics is Atty. Harry Roque. He has served as the spokesman of Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte and was also one of the Elections 2022 senatorial candidates.

However, Roque did not bag a seat in the Senate. Recently, he announced that he is serving as a private legal counsel to Pres. Bongbong Marcos who has just assumed office last June 30 following a landslide win in the 2022 presidential election.

Atty. Harry Roque is one of those who had a meeting with Pres. Bongbong Marcos and several high-ranking officials in the government over the probe of the International Criminal Court (ICC).

The ICC wants to conduct an investigation in the Philippines amid the former administration’s drug war being linked to the deaths of many people. According to the officials present during the meeting with Pres. Marcos, they only talked about the stand of the country regarding the probe.

Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, Atty. Harry Roque who said that he is retained as the private legal counsel of Pres. Bongbong Marcos claimed that he was paid P20 for his service. He also stressed that he cannot divulge details about his talk with the President “for the sole purpose of ensuring confidentiality”.

“As such, all my conversations with the President on legal matters are covered by atty-client confidentiality,” Roque said.

Malacañang has remained silent over the claims of Roque. The Palace has also yet to reveal its stand on the ICC probe and the other attendees of the meeting with Pres. Marcos left it on the jurisdiction of the President to speak on the decision regarding the investigation.
