A well-known establishment did not accept a folded new P1000 bill of a netizen
P1000 BILL – A netizen took to social media to express her disappointment after her folded new P1000 polymer banknote was not accepted at an establishment.
It was in April this year when the 1000-Piso polymer banknotes have been introduced.
Reportedly, the central bank will circulate an initial 10 million polymer banknotes in 1000-Piso denomination this quarter in order to test the market’s acceptance of polymer-based money.
According to the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP), the banknotes are strong and should last 2 to 5 times longer than paper banknotes.
The quality of the polymer banknotes can be preserved through proper handling and by strictly avoiding the following:
- Excessively folding or crumpling the banknote
- Ironing polymer banknotes
- Exposing the polymer banknotes to high temperatures or placing them near an open flame
- Stapling the polymer banknotes or using rubber bands to keep them together
Apparently, a certain Reylen Lopez has forgotten not to fold her new P1000 bill.
She was supposed to use it as payment at a well-known establishment but according to her, the management of the said establishment did not accept the bill because of its condition.
Here’s the caption on her post: “Wag na Po kayu mag ipon ng bagong 1k! Bawal daw I fold o tupiin as per SM Management..I-pang babayad q sana to, Hindi nila tinanggap..Bawal daw tupiin..Hindi kami na inform (emoji)… Aq lang ba Hindi nakakaalam? Haisst (emoji).”
The netizen’s post has gone viral garnering reactions from the netizens.

The currency of the country is the country’s currency. Unless its very badly damaged, it should be accepted.
