ROBIN PADILLA — The actor recently shared why he is leading the senatorial race, based on the partial and unofficial count of poll watchdog PPCRV (Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting).
At 96.65% of votes transmitted as of 9:47 am Tuesday, Robin ranked 1 among the senatorial candidates, ahead of Antique Representative Loren Legarda and broadcaster Raffy Tulfo.
As the election returns continued to come in, Robin said in an interview on TeleRadyo that he was surprised with partial, unofficial results that placed him atop the list of senatorial candidates.
Robin credited the support of his supporters and his family, including his wife Mariel Padilla, as well as incumbent President Rodrigo Duterte and Senator Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go as instrumental to his successful bid for an elected seat.
He also pointed out that he was endorsed by President Duterte and his daughter, vice-presidential candidate Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte, and enjoyed the support of some Muslim groups as well as the Iglesia ni Cristo (INC).
Robin added that his being included in the UniTeam campaign of Mayor Sara and presidential candidate Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr may have helped propel him as a frontrunner.
Even then, he said that he was surprised with his No. 1 ranking based on 96.65% of election returns transmitted. For him, votes for him were votes specifically for his plan to push for federalism in the country.

When asked what he intends to do in his first days in the Senate, he circled back to his platform of pursuing charter change.
