NPC Joins Other Political Parties in Supporting Rep. Martin Romualdez
NPC – The Nationalist People’s Coalition expressed its support for Leyte 1st District Representative Martin Romualdez as House Speaker in the next Congress.
Millions of Filipinos were out last May 9, 2022 to vote in the local and national elections. The local polls included the election for district representatives, governors, vice governors, mayors, and councilors.
At the national level, elections for the country’s next president and vice president and a new set of senators to join the upper chamber of the legislative body were held. There was also an election of party lists.
Currently, many Filipinos are curious about who might be the next Senate President and House Speaker under the new administration. The name of Leyte First District Representative Ferdinand Martin Romualdez is ringing a bell in talks about the next House Speaker.
Romualdez is the cousin of presumptive president Bongbong Marcos. He is one of those who actively helped in the campaign of the UniTeam.
Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, several political parties in the House of Representatives have already expressed their support for Romualdez as the House Speaker. Among these parties are the Party-List Coalition Foundation, Inc. (PCFI), Hugpong ng Pagbabago (HNP), PDP-Laban, Liberal Party (LP), Nacionalista Party (NP), and Lakas-CMD.
Recently, the Nationalist People’s Coalition (NPC) also expressed its support for Rep. Martin Romualdez as the House Speaker. According to the report, NPC Secretary General and former Batangas Rep. Mark Llandro Mendoza, Quezon Rep. Mark Enverga, and Rizal Rep. Jack Duavit met with Romualdez for the presentation of the group’s manifesto of support.
The NPC has 39 members in the lower house. In its statement, it expressed its belief that Rep. Martin Romualdez has the aptitude and the experience to unite the members of the House to pass legislative reforms for the benefit of the Filipino people and the country.
