Remulla claims he did not commit an election offense after giving cash at BBM-Sara rally
JONVIC REMULLA – The governor of Cavite justified giving cash as much as P28,000 at the UniTeam rally of Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr and Sara Duterte on Tuesday, March 22.
BBM is gearing up for the highest position in the government this coming May 9, 2022 election
Together with his runningmate, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio, they will go against the tandem of; Vice President Leni Robredo and Senator Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan, Manila Mayor Isko Moreno and Doc Willie Ong, Senator Manny Pacquiao and Buhay partylist representative, Lito Atienza as well as Senator Panfilo “Ping” Lacson and Senator Vicente “Tito” Sotto III.
Earlier, the UniTeam held a sortie at the covered court of Barangay San Juan, Dasmariñas in Cavite.
Remulla, the governor of Cavite, came early and later called the attendees on stage asking them to sing and dance and in the end gave the participants either P1,000, P2,000, or P5,000.
Apparently, Remulla was criticized because of his act.
But according to the governor of Cavite, his act cannot be counted as an election offense since BBM and the presidential daughter were not in the venue when he started giving money away.
Remulla, who is seeking reelection, added that he did not commit an election offense because the campaign period will start only this coming March 25.
Meanwhile, vote-buying, which is defined as “any person who gives, offers or promises money or anything of value…in order to induce anyone or the public in general to vote for or against any candidate” is prohibited as per the Omnibus Election Code.
