PLDT breaks ground for its largest hyperscale data center facility in Laguna.
PLDT — The telco giant has commenced construction of its largest hyperscale data center facility in Sta. Rosa, Laguna.
PLDT has commenced construction of its 11th and largest hyperscale data center facility in Laguna. Alfredo Panlilio, PLDT president and CEO, led the groundbreaking ceremony of the facility called VITRO Sta.Rosa.
PLDT’s hyperscale data center facility expands its network of world-class data centers and positions the country as the next digital hub and destination in Asia-Pacific.
VITRO Sta. Rosa is the largest data center campus in the country by far. It’s the first in a series of data centers being planned by the telco giant with a total power capacity of 100 megawatts.
“With VITRO Sta. Rosa, we aim to set the benchmark in infrastructure resilience, operational excellence, global competitiveness, and world-class sustainability,” Panlilio said.
PLDT’s data center facility is designed to be energy efficient, utilizing the latest innovations in cooling and power redundancy, Tier-3 certified and Tier-4 ready, and with the highest level of network diversity and resilience with at least 3 fiber routes from PLDT and augmented by routes from other carriers.
With VITRO Sta. Rosa hosting the Philippines’ richest internet ecosystem and premier internet exchanges, the telco giant said that it would be the most ideal location for availability zones and points-of-presence of hyperscalers and also for critical systems of enterprises.

The telco giant has partnered with Meralco to build a dedicated substation on-site in order to directly supply the data center’s power requirements and to also ensure higher levels of system reliability and more efficient delivery of electricity.
Also, the telco giant has teamed up with RED Engineering in order to co-develop the design of the facility based on global LEED standards.
“A facility of this caliber only ensures the best possible customer experience not only for our hyperscale clients, but also for the Filipino end-users consuming their services,” Panlilio said.
Last year, the telco giant collaborated with key government agencies in order to lay down the groundwork and include hyperscalers as one of the country’s new priority sectors.
