Malacañang Speaks on ‘Cash Aid for All’ amid the Oil Price Hike in PH

Malacañang Cites Problem Despite Willingness to Release ‘Cash Aid for All’

MALACAÑANG – Acting presidential spokesman Martin Andanar spoke on the possible ‘cash aid for all’ amid the oil price hike in the Philippines.

Amid the crisis in the Philippines due to the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic that resulted in the loss of jobs and source of incomes for many people, the shutting down of businesses, and several other unfortunate events, there is another challenge that the Filipinos are facing now – the oil price hike.

The series of oil price hikes is not only affecting the public utility vehicle (PUV) drivers and the private owners of vehicles. It also affects the operation of many businesses and may lead to the increase of the prices of several other products including food.

It was in January when the prices of oil started taking an upward trend. There is an increase almost every week and, according to the Department of Energy, the oil price hike may continue until May or June.

The Energy authorities said that the increase in the prices of oil is due to the high global demand. The ongoing war between Ukraine and Russia is also eyed to cause the further rising of the oil prices in the country.

Amid the series of oil price hikes in the Philippines, based on a report on GMA News, Malacañang is willing to give a ‘cash aid for all’ just like the SAP assistance under the Social Amelioration Program amid the pandemic. However, there is a problem – the fund.

Speaking to Dobol B TV, Malacañang acting spokesperson Martin Andanar stressed that the Palace would prefer giving cash assistance to the people but there is no source of funds for it.

“Pero logic would tell you that saan ka kukuha ng pera kung walang sources of funds. Wala tayong maiibigy, e ‘di uutang naman tayo,” Andanar said.

Super unfair sa ibang bahay na wala, kung sino pa ang mga tax-payers yun ang mga wala. Ang mga walang experience sa pag wo work yun ang mga may ayuda, due to tamad maghanap work.
