Rowena Guanzon urges netizens to stop the viral #ngiwichallenge
ROWENA GUANZON- After receiving criticisms on social media, the retired Commission on Elections (Comelec) Commissioner urged netizens to stop the viral “Ngiwi Challenge.”
The said challenge went viral on social media as part of the criticism of a candidate who has been doing it.
Guanzon was among who participated in the said challenge. However, she received various reactions from netizens after doing it.
It seems that Guanzon’s take on the ngiwi challenge suddenly changed so as not to hurt persons with disabilities (PWDs).
Some conditions such as Cerebral Palsy and Tourette Syndrome have symptoms of “ngiwi”, which is why some netizens criticized Guanzon- who is an advocate of PWDs.
“Please guys let’s stop the #ngiwisquad ngiwi challenge because it might offend those with Tourette’s and cebral palsy. Thank you @austismphils,” she said.
A netizen with handle name @s_aguedo criticized her by saying: “The damage have been done. You should have taken that in consideration before you did it.”
In her previous posts Guanzon denied that her “ngiwi” challenge was for PWDs.
To recall, it was on February 2 when Guazon retired from her post as Comelec commissioner.
Days before her retirement, she made a buzz for notably presiding over the disqualification case filed against presidential candidate Bongbong Marcos. At the time, she publicly named fellow commissioner Aimee Ferolino as “the one delaying the decision in favor of Marcos”.
