Sen. Manny Pacquiao Speaks on Handing Out Cash during Visit in Some Cities
MANNY PACQUIAO – The presidential candidate said that he will stop handing out cash to the people when the campaign period starts.
One of the richest politicians in the Philippines is Senator Manny Pacquiao. He is the second richest senator in the country and a multi-billionaire. It is no secret to the public that his wealth is a product of his hard work and sweat as a boxer.
Before entering politics, Pacquiao placed the name of the country on the map of boxing by defeating several boxing champions from different countries. He bagged titles in several weight divisions.
Pacquiao brought a lot of fame and honor to the Philippines. His boxing fights are not only much-awaited by the Filipinos but as well as other races across the globe.
In 2021, Sen. Manny Pacquiao announced that he is hanging up his boxing gloves. His decision to retire from boxing was announced after he confirmed his decision to run for president in the Election 2022.
Pacquiao is the standard-bearer of PROMDI. He’s a member of the ruling party, PDP-Laban, but he had a conflict with some of the party’s members and it resulted in an internal faction.
Even before he decided to run for president, Sen. Pacquiao is already known as a generous person who would give out money in places he visits. He has previously visited several cities in the country where he handed out at least P1,000.00 to each person aside from the food packs given by his team.
However, based on a report on ABS-CBN News, Sen. Manny Pacquiao said during the Panata Sa Bayan presidential forum that he will stop handing out cash to the people when the campaign period officially starts in obedience to the rules of the Commission on Elections (Comelec). The campaign period is set to begin on Tuesday, February 8.
The PROMDI standard-bearer maintained that his act of giving out money is not an act of influencing the people to vote for him in the upcoming election. The cash that he is giving came from his personal funds.
