Road roller kills man in Aklan
AKLAN – A man died after being crushed by a roller in Malay town on Wednesday morning, February 23.
A road roller (sometimes called a roller-compactor, or just roller) is a compactor-type engineering vehicle used to compact soil, gravel, concrete, or asphalt in the construction of roads and foundations. Similar rollers are used also at landfills or in agriculture.
Road rollers are frequently referred to as steamrollers, regardless of their method of propulsion.
Apparently, a road roller hit a man in Aklan taking his life.
Based on the investigation of the Malay PNP, the victim identified as Stephen Sajise is guiding the roller backwards to bring it closer to the damaged backhoe at the jetty port being built in Barangay Caticlan.
Unfortunately, he was allegedly run over by a roller.
The driver of the backhoe allegedly did not realize that the victim was on the back of the roller so he ran over it.
The victim was immediately taken to the hospital but was declared dead-on-arrival by the doctor.
The driver of the roller is in the custody of the Malay PNP but is awaiting the decision of the victim’s family if they will file a case against the driver.
This is not the first time that such an accident happened.
