Comelec Commissioner Aimee Ferolino Speaks during Sendoff Event for Commissioner Rowena Guanzon, 2 Other Officials
FEROLINO – Commission on Elections (Comelec) Commissioner Aimee Ferolino gave a message for retired commissioner Rowena Guanzon and 2 other officials during the sendoff event.
The name of Comelec Commissioner Rowena Guanzon recently took social media by storm after she made claims over the three (3) consolidated petitions against the presidential bid of former Senator Bongbong Marcos.
The said consolidated cases seeking Marcos Jr.’s disqualification from the presidential race were raffled to Comelec First Division where Guanzon is one of the three (3) members to handle the petitions.
Guanzon claimed that there is a delay in the release of the resolution bearing the main decision. According to her, they allegedly set that it will be out by January 17. She revealed that Commissioner Aimee Ferolino is the ponente of the cases they are handling.
According to Guanzon, she voted for the disqualification of Marcos Jr. as she really believes that there is moral turpitude in his tax evasion conviction. She also aired her belief that there is allegedly a political interference why Ferolino has yet to release the decision.
Ferolino denied that they agreed on a deadline for the release of a resolution. She also accused Guanzon of speaking up to convince her judgment regarding the consolidated cases.
According to Guanzon, there is allegedly a delay in the release of the verdict as “they” do not want to count her vote. She’s set to retire on February 2.
Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, a send-off event was conducted for retiring Comelec Commissioner Rowena Guanzon and two (2) other officials of the poll body. During the said event, Commissioner Aimee Ferolino gave a message.
“I know even if they have retired, they are just a phone call away. And I hope that the friendship that we had started will not end with you leaving the Commission,” she said.
