During his “Talk to the People” public briefing aired late Tuesday night, the President urged voters not to vote for Senators Gordon and Pangilinan in the 2022 elections.

President Duterte criticized Senator Pangilinan again for his Juvenile Justice and Welfare Act, saying that it led to the youth committing crimes.

The President claimed that children who committed a crime can be set free because of the said law, adding that it raised the number of crimes “tenfold”.

Senator Pangilinan, for his part, said in an interview on the Mangahas Interviews that the government didn’t fund the law which resulted in poor implementation.

In defending the said law, the senator said that members of criminal syndicates should be the ones put to jail and not the young offenders. The senator also pointed out connivance between the corrupt law enforcers and criminal syndicates.

The President, meanwhile, didn’t elaborate on why he wanted Senator Gordon out of the Senate.

However, President Duterte, in his previous televised addresses, lambasted Senator Gordon for his investigation of the government’s allegedly irregular contracts with Pharmally Pharmaceutical Corporation to provide medical supplies amidst the pandemic.

Actually, don’t vote for those two — Gordon and Pangilinan. They have been in the Senate for a long time. Remove them… They seem to have similar brains. This Pangilinan really does not use his brain,” President Duterte said.

Pangilinan is running for vice president in the 2022 elections, while Gordon is running for senator.
