Iza Calzado shared a message for her late father on what would have been his 77th birthday
IZA CALZADO — The Kapamilya actress recently took to social media to share a message for her late father on what would have been his 77th birthday.
On Thursday, Iza shared on her Instagram account a throwback photo of her father when he’s still a young man. Iza also shared video clips from the 1969 comedy film “Drakulita” which starred her father.
“Happy Birthday to the OG! You would have been 77 today, Daddy Yo, and I am pretty sure that you’d still be as cute, charming and youthful as you are in this photo,” Iza wrote.
The actress went on to express her gratitude and admiration to her father, saying that he’s always true to who he was.
“Thank you for showing me what it means to be light, to love and to be free,” Iza said. “I get it now. Fly and dance freely, Daddy. Enjoy the wind on your smiling face.“
Aside from being an actor, Iza’s father, Lito Calzado, was also a choreographer and director.
Based on a report on PUSH, Iza’s father was a member of the folk dance troupe of the University of the East, the Bayanihan Philippine Dance Company, and the Ballet Folkloric Filipino in the 1960.
Iza’s father died of liver cancer on November 11, 2011. He’s only 65 at the time of his death.

Last December, the actress took to social media to remember her father, as well as her late mother Mary Anne Ussher.
Her mother died in November 2001 and her cause of death was initially reported as “cancer”. But Iza revealed in October 2019 that she lost her mother to depression after years of struggling with bipolar disorder.
