MANILA ZOO – The newly-rehabilitated attraction in the country’s capital will open for free, the whole January according to Manila Mayor Isko Moreno.
The city mayor made the announcement during the zoo’s soft opening on Thursday, December 30.

However, the operating hours of the zoo had yet to be determined as well as the zoo’s capacity at a given time.
The local government of Manila will give more updates about the operation of Manila Zoo in due time.
According to the mayor of Manila, the newly-rehabilitated attraction will be available even during night time to give way for the “night safari.”
Aside from that more animals will be added in the zoo which is now known as Manila Zoological and Botanical Garden.
If a two-meter distancing is observed inside the 5.5 hectares attraction, it will accommodate at least 6.257 people while if one-meter distancing is implemented, it can cater 9,842 people.
The opening of Manila Zoo coincided with the 125th death anniversary of the country’s national hero, Jose Rizal.
The over 60-year-old Manila Zoo which is being run by the local government of Manila was opened in July 1959.
The tourist attraction is home to about a thousand animals from 90 species. Among the animals residing or have resided in the zoo includes a Bengal tiger, Malayan civet, monitor lizard and hippopotamus.
Mali, an Asian elephant, is regarded as the most known attraction of the zoo.
