Sara Duterte accepted the offer to become the chairperson of Lakas-CMD.
SARA DUTERTE — The vice-presidential aspirant and incumbent Davao City mayor has accepted the offer to become the chairperson of Lakas-CMD.
Mayor Sara was set to replace Senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr as the chairperson of the Lakas-CMD party.
In a statement issued hours after Revilla made the said offer, Mayor Sara said that she’s honored to accept the Chairmanship of the party, adding that she’s looking forward to waging a successful campaign for the so-called “Uniteam”.
“I am honored to accept the Chairmanship of Lakas-CMD,” Mayor Sara said. “Together with the party, I look forward to waging a successful campaign for Uniteam BBM-Sara, with the invaluable support of our fellow Filipinos.”
Lakas-CMD has fielded Mayor Sara as its vice-presidential candidate in the 2022 national elections.
In a statement, party president and House Majority Leader Ferdinand Martin Romualdez lauded Mayor Sara’s decision to join Lakas-CMD.

According to Romualdez, the party was constantly guided by Mayor Sara’s instructions to “continue forging alliances and maintaining good relationship with all forces supportive of the administration’s efforts” in order to improve the living condition of Filipinos.
“Mayor Sara is now the standard-bearer of Lakas-CMD and the acknowledged guiding light of the Party,” Romualdez said. “We are constantly guided by her instructions to continue forging alliances and maintaining good relationship with all forces supportive of the administration’s efforts to improve the living condition of the Filipino people.”
The Lakas-CMD had been on a rebound recently as Romualdez was able to expand its membership in the Lower House.
Also, former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo was credited for the continued rise of Lakas-CMD that has catapulted her and its founder, former President Fidel V. Ramos, to the top national position.
