Robredo Reveals Stand on “Mandatory COVID-19 Vaccination”

Is Vice Pres. Robredo favor of the Mandatory COVID-19 Vaccination?

ROBREDO – The presidential aspirant and Vice President revealed her stand on implementing “mandatory COVID-19 vaccination” in the Philippines.

The national problem that remains the most urgent in the Philippines now is the COVID-19 pandemic. The whole nation is under community quarantine measures for more than a year now.

Like several other countries across the globe, PH is currently vaccinating the people. It targets to vaccinate at least 70 million people to achieve the population protection.

However, truth be told that there are still a lot of people who are hesitant to get vaccinated against COVID-19. In line with this, there are proposals of making it mandatory.

Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, vaccine czar Carlito Galvez Jr. and presidential adviser for entrepreneurship Joey Concepcion said they are in favor of the “mandatory COVID-19 vaccination”.

As for Vice Pres. Leni Robredo, she raised a question on whether penalties await those who will not abide by the mandatory COVID-19 vaccination. According to her, she would rather go for an “incentivizing” move or the giving rewards in encouraging the people to do something.

The Vice President cited the mobile COVID-19 testing that her office launched in communities where the transmission is high. According to her, many people refuse to get swabbed because they are worrying on what will happen if they tested positive.

The Office of the Vice President is giving out a sack of rice and food supplies good for two (2) weeks for the family that tested positive for COVID-19. Based on the report, she stressed that she is into putting up incentives as she believes in “empowering solutions”.

The Vice President expressed that there is a deeper motivation if the people follow in encouraging them through positive reinforcement than in getting them to abide because of fear for punishment or penalties.
