PRAYER FOR ELECTION 2022 – The Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines released a prayer for the national and local elections.

October 8, 2021 was the deadline set by the Commission on Elections (Comelec) for the filing of the candidacies for Election 2022. Both national and local elections will be held.

After the period set by the poll body for the filing of the Certificate of Candidacy (COC), the extension of the voter registration period started until the last day of October. Substitutions of those who filed their candidacies also took place until November 15.

The Election 2022 has started taking social media platforms by storm now. Many people, groups, and institutions have already announced their bet for certain positions most especially the presidency.

Prayer for Election 2022

In the political arena, alliances of several parties were formed. Many incumbent government officials have also expressed their support for their bets in the upcoming election.

Amid the differences of perspectives now, the Catholic Church is pushing to face the upcoming election armored with prayers. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) released a prayer for Election 2022.

According to CBCP president Archbishop Romulo Valles, the prayer for Election 2022 will be prayed starting November 28, 2021. Based on the report, it is the first Sunday of Advent.

The Episcopal Commission on Liturgy suggested that the said prayer will be recited on the first and third Sundays of the month after the Communion prayer. The second and fourth Sundays are intended for the Synod on Synodality prayer.

There will be changes in the time set for Oratio Imperata for COVID-19. According to the CBCP President, instead of having it as a post-Communion prayer, it will be prayed before the start of the mass.
