The DOH and COMELEC were finalizing the health protocols for this coming election season, according to Duque.
On Wednesday, Health Secretary Francisco Duque III said that the Department of Health (DOH) and the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) were finalizing the health protocols to be implemented this coming election season.
In an interview on Kapihan sa Manila Bay, Duque said that they have already touched base with the poll body and they have already looked into the health protocols that they need to impose or implement once the election season officially started.
“Meron nang specifics ‘yan but we will just report it to the public once the Comelec officially issues it out,” Duque said. “We’re helping at the technical level, we’re reviewing the health protocols. That’s within the purview of the department.”

According to Duque, the Department of Health will be willing to assist the poll body in ensuring that precautionary measures were observed in the election season.
As early as July, the poll body said that kissing babies, “public displays of affection”, and even handing out food will no longer be allowed during the campaign period for the 2022 national and local elections as part of the new normal.
“Public displays of affection used to be part of the whole idea of campaigning, as they say. Politicians go out to shake hands and kiss babies,” Jimenez said at that time. “You’re not gonna be able to do that anymore. Because that will certainly be very risky behavior. And yes, that qualifies as PDA and that will have to be strictly regulated.”
