Gordon issued a “shoutout” to “trolls” or unidentified critics he said were watching their committee hearings online and were very active in social media trying to destroy his and other senators’ credibility in his opening statement before proceeding with the 12th hearing of the panel.

The senator told the “trolls” that it’s part of their job and they’re doing it only because they wanted to earn for their family and loved ones.

Marami pong trabahong marangal,” Gordon said during the hearing.

The Senate probe, according to a report on Manila Bulletin, has earned the support of many sectors, particularly from the medical sector who were present during the hearing.

According to Senator Gordon, he’s grateful for the overwhelming outpour of support for the “search for truth” and those who had been eagerly monitoring the developments of the Senate investigation.

The Senate blue ribbon committee had been investigating the government’s purchase of medical goods, including substandard face shields that were deemed “overprice”, at the height of the pandemic last 2020.

Also, senators have repeatedly questioned the Department of Health’s (DOH) transfer of PHP 42-billion to the Procurement Service of the Department of Budget and Management (DBM-PS) for the procurement of pandemic supplies.

A portion of the said amount, around PHP 8.6-billion, went to Pharmally Pharmaceutical Corporation which was awarded a contract for some pandemic supplies despite it being undercapitalized.

Our inquiry in aid of legislation reveals unconscionable, unabashed, and unethical circumventions of our republican way of governance. Na diskurbe po nating inuna ang kumita at makakuha ng kumisyon, o kickbacks, instead of coming up with the right way to quell the pandemic,” Gordon said.
