Drug test for all candidates? Here’s the response of Isko Moreno
ISKO MORENO – The incumbent mayor of Manila City suggests mandatory drug testing for all candidates in the 2022 elections.
The actor-turned-politician will run for the highest position in the government in the coming polls.
He will go against presidential aspirants such as; Vice President Leni Robredo, former senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, and senators Manny Pacquiao, Ping Lacson and Bato dela Rosa.
Meanwhile, Isko Moreno whose real name is Francisco Domagoso suggests mandatory drug testing for all candidates.
“Dapat ‘yan baka mamaya may adik na kandidato. Can you imagine kapag may adik na presidente. Let’s be honest to ourselves, how can we campaign against drugs eh even the President nagda-drugs?” he said when asked if he’s in favor upon making drug test mandatory among candidates.
Senate President Vicente Sotto III and Senator Manny Pacquiao agreed in the suggestion of Isko Moreno.
Sotto said he is one of the authors of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, which mandates mandatory drug testing on all candidates and individuals facing criminal charges, but he said the Supreme Court declared it unconstitutional.
Pacquiao said he will take a drug test before campaigning.
On the other hand, Attorney Barry Gutierrez, the spokesperson of Vice President Leni Robredo said that the latter is prepared to take the drug test while Sen. Bato dela Rosa also agreed to the proposal.
It was in 2008 when the Supreme Court declared the provision in the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 mandating drug testing to all candidates for public office, as unconstitutional.
