Harry Roque slammed protesters’ alleged disruption of reception during his UN trip.
On Saturday, Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque denounced the alleged disruption made by some protesters at a private reception he’s attending in New York that resulted in the injury of two elderly waiters.
Roque’s statement came after members of Bayan USA and allied organizations went to the upscale Manhattan eatery Aretsky’s Patroon wherein they chanted “Roque out of ILC!” and “No justice, no peace!”
“We deplore the effort of militant groups to deliberately cause harm to innocent people in their attempt to disrupt a private reception we were tendering for representatives of several foreign missions in New York,” Roque said in a statement.
According to the Palace spokesman, they were informed by the restaurant that protesters ordered food and beverage but did not pay for them.
Bayan USA responded to Roque’s statement, claiming that the Palace spokesman “spews lies and spins the facts in defense of his shameful government”.

Roque was currently in New York for an official visit to the United Nations for the UN International Law week.
According to him, he’s one of the officials from the Office of the President and the delegation from the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA).
Roque has been nominated by the Philippine government for a seat in the International Law Commission (ILC), a UN body. He cited his being a professor for international law at the University of the Philippines (UP) College of Law in Diliman for 15 years as one of his qualifications for the ILC post.
However, Roque’s bid had been opposed by the Free Legal Assistance Group (FLAG) and the UP Diliman Executive Committee.
