CHED — The Commission on Higher Education was currently studying the possibility of allowing limited face-to-face classes in all degree programs in low-risk areas.
During Monday’s Presidential press briefing, CHED Chairman Prospero De Vera III said that they’re studying if they could allow limited face-to-face classes in all degree programs in areas that have low coronavirus cases and high vaccination rates.
“In addition to limited face-to-face by degree program, pinag-aaralan na namin kung puwedeng payagan ang mga eskuwelahan na mag-limited face to face classes in all degree programs in areas that have very low COVID prevalence and very high vaccination rate,” De Vera said.

According to De Vera, they could allow the conduct of limited face-to-face classes in all degree programs in the next couple of months if the local government will allow it, if the vaccination rate in the area was high, and its COVID classification was low, “as long as they abide by the guidelines and they are inspected”.
De Vera also said that based on CHED data, 73 percent of personnel in 1,488 colleges and universities nationwide have already been vaccinated against the coronavirus disease.
Last September, De Vera said that the safety of students taking up medicine and allied health courses and the urgent need for hands-on experience was the key for the Commission to recommend the expansion proposal.
