The said post dew flak for allegedly throwing “shade” at Beatrice Luigi Gomez, the newly crowned Miss Universe Philippines 2021.

It was on Thursday, September 30 when she was crowned as MUP 2021. She will represent the Philippines at the Miss Universe 2021 pageant in Eilat, Israel in December 2021.

On October 1, Binibining Pilipinas posted a photo of Miss International Philippines Hannah Arnold. The post was accompanied by the caption: “Naturaaaal woman.”

But netizens were irked at the caption with some describing it as “homophobic” and “outdated.” Others speculate that Bb. Pilipinas was throwing shade at Gomez.

After earning backlash from netizens, Binibining Pilipinas took to the social networking site, Facebook wherein it posted an apology.

For over 50 years, the Binibining Pilipinas Charities, Inc. (BPCI) has been choosing the country’s representative in the global Miss Universe pageant until it parted ways with the Miss Universe Organization in December 2019.

Miss Universe Philippines led by former Binibining Pilipinas Universe 2011 Shamcey Supsup has since been established.

Last week, MUP 2021 held its coronation night in Bohol. It added two new titles; Miss Universe Philippines Tourism and Miss Universe Philippines Charity, which were won by Taguig’s Katrina Dimaranan and Cavite’s Victoria Vincent, respectively.

On the other hand, Maureen Wroblewitz from Pangasinan was hailed as first-runner up followed by Steffi Rose Aberasturi from Cebu Province as the second runner-up.
