Lies should be countered with truth, according to Vice President Robredo.
On Friday, Vice President Leni Robredo said that lies should be countered with truth as she blamed “troll armies” for low survey numbers.
Robredo opined in a chance interview during the launch of the “Vaccine Express” program in San Fernando, Pampanga that one of the biggest reasons for her poor showing in pre-election surveys had been the glut of “trolls” in the online space.
According to her, there were a lot of anonymous accounts on social media and there were a lot of “troll armies” as well. Robredo claimed that the flow of communication became tight in the last six years because of the promotion of propaganda.
When asked if she thought this was one of the reasons why her survey figures had been low, she said that it’s one of the big reasons because they can only speculate.

Robredo further noted that those with the means to control or maintain those social media armies have had the bigger platform for communication as opposed to those who didn’t have the means.
“Alam mo, kapag tinapatan natin iyan, anong kaibahan natin sa kanila, ‘di ba? Papaano pa tayo magkakaroon ng moral ascendancy na sabihin na mali sila? Ang dapat, tapatan natin iyong kasinungalingan with the truth,” Robredo said when asked by another reporter if she would be willing fight fire with fire by tapping her own “troll armies” or “troll farms”.
Moreover, Robredo said that whenever there were supporters who volunteered that they “would be the ones to answer online”, they always tell them to answer the trolls but only with the truth.
