Julia Barretto became the newest member of the PCG Auxiliary K9 Squadron
Actress Julia Barretto was the latest celebrity to become a member of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) Auxiliary K9 Squadron.
On Wednesday, the Philippine Coast Guard has officially welcomed Auxiliary Ensign Julia Barretto in the agency’s Auxiliary K9 Squadron.
PCG Commandant CG Admiral George V Ursabia Jr led the donning and oath-taking ceremonies of Auxiliary Ensign Julia Barretto, together with Auxiliarist Jalil Laidan, Auxiliarist Harold Jocel Talan, and Auxiliarist Ando Cruise Catipay.
The ceremonies were held at the National Headquarters in Port Area, Manila.

Ursabia expressed his gratitude to the new PCGA members who committed to serve the nation by supporting the Philippine Coast Guard in the performance of disaster response operations and humanitarian missions.
During the said event, Ursabia highlighted the increasing need for K9 units in the Philippines for the promotion of national security.
Ursabia also shared that the Department of Transportation (DOTr), through Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) and Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), could soon provide high quality and competent K9 units in different government agencies nationwide.
As the most senior appointee, Julia was given an opportunity to speak on behalf of her fellow members of the PCG Auxiliary K9 Squadron.
The actress thanked the Philippine Coast Guard and the PCG Auxiliary K9 Squadron for welcoming her into the field of public service and also pledged to actively support the initiatives of the unit towards the delivery of compassionate and humble service to the Filipino people.
The Philippine Coast Guard also said that Auxiliary Lieutenant Commander Gerald Anderson of the PCGA K9 Squadron was also present in the said event.
“Auxiliary means volunteer. Members of the PCGA are committed to serve the PCG by offering their time, efforts, and resources without expecting anything in return,” PCG said in a statement on Instagram.
