McDonald’s officially introduced “The Saweetie Meal” in the United States
THE SAWEETIE MEAL — Following the successful launch of “BTS Meal”, McDonald’s recently introduced a meal that was named after Filipino-American rapper Saweetie.
Recently, McDonald’s launched its summer collaboration with Saweetie. The limited-time meal featured a Big Mac, medium Sprite, a four-piece Chicken McNuggets, and “Tangy BBQ” and “Saweetie ‘n Sour” sauces.
Saweetie revealed that she even shot a Tagalog-English, or Taglish, version of McDonald’s ad. According to her, it was such a “dream come true”.
However, Saweetie said that when the Taglish commercials came out, she hoped she did the Taglish justice because she didn’t have the accent, adding that Tagalog was such a special language for her because she had to have the accent in order to make some of the words sound good and so she’s always trying her best.
“When I get frustrated, I say ‘susmaryosep’ and they’re just like, ‘What did you just say?’ But I get that from my mom and my lola. And I always love to eat, Filipinos love to eat, so definitely that,” she said when asked what the most Filipina thing was about her that people may not know.
Saweetie rose to fame when her song “My Type” went viral last 2019. Since its launch, her music video had garnered over 122 million views.

She shared that she’s always been proud of her black and Filipino roots even though she had challenges growing up, adding that she wanted others to feel the same confidence about themselves.
According to her, her purpose was to inspire and to make women feel proud of their background, their culture, their heritage, whatever it may be.
“We can’t change, we can’t alter anything so we might as well be proud of who we are,” she said.
ABS-CBN News reported that Saweetie’s McDonald’s commercial also featured a remix of her latest single “Fast (Motion)”.
