Galvez encouraged the public to remain calm amidst vaccination mess.
Vaccine czar Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr had encouraged the public to remain calm as he assured that there’s no truth to the information spreading online that the government won’t allow unvaccinated persons from going out of their respective homes.
According to Galvez, the COVID-19 vaccination program will be intensified in Metro Manila during the implementation of a two-week ECQ (enhanced community quarantine) which officially started Friday, August 6.
Galvez, who was also the National Task Force Against COVID-19 (NTF COVID-19) chief implementer, urged the public to register and follow the proper processing because the COVID-19 vaccination program will continue.
Galvez’s remark came as hundreds of people trooped to different COVID-19 vaccination sites in Metro Manila cities last Thursday, prompting some local government officials to close some sites as minimum public health standards were blatantly violated. Authorities also warned that such incidents could easily become “superspreader events”.
Prior to the said incident, rumors spread online that unvaccinated Filipinos will supposedly be prevented from going out of their respective homes or won’t receive cash assistance from the national government during the enhanced community quarantine, an information that had been dismissed by government officials.
According to Galvez, they appreciated the efforts of LGUs in ramping up the vaccination program in the communities but he reminded local government officials to ensure that wearing of masks, social distancing, and other safety protocols were being observed in COVID-19 vaccination sites.

Meanwhile, he assured that four to six million COVID-19 vaccine doses were already allocated to Metro Manila and some adjacent provinces for August in order to scale up their daily COVID-19 vaccinations.
Out of this number, one million COVID-19 vaccine doses had already been deployed to the LGUs while the remaining COVID-19 vaccine doses were being prepared for distribution.
Galvez also said that the NTF was keen on increasing the allocation up to eight million COVID-19 vaccine doses as the Philippines expected to receive 22.7 million COVID-19 vaccine doses this month from different manufacturers and sources.
“We have collaborated with Metro Manila mayors and different line agencies such as the Department of Transportation and the Department of Health to ensure that we will be able to scale up our vaccine rollout in the NCR and administer 250,000 doses daily during the ECQ period,” said Galvez.
In addition, Galvez said that different measures will be imposed in order to ensure that the deployment of COVID-19 vaccine doses will continue despite the stricter community quarantine status in NCR.
