Days before the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) would be reimplemented in Metro Manila, the DTI assured the public that there would be enough food supply during the quarantine.

Trade Secretary Ramon Lopez said that the public need not resort to hoarding as they’ll be allowed to go outside and replenished their stocks.

Puwede naman lumabas ‘yung bibili, lalo na ng pagkain at tsaka groceries. Allowed naman ‘yan. At tsaka isa pa, hindi dapat mag-alala na baka maubusan ng stocks. Hindi po, sobrang dami ng pagkain,” Lopez said in a report on GMA News’ “24 Oras Weekend”.

Lopez’s statement came as Metro Manila will be placed under an enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) from August 6 to August 20, 2021.

GMA News Online reported that the National Capital Region (NCR) was currently under general community quarantine (GCQ) “subject to heightened and additional restrictions” until August 5, 2021.

Based on a report, the current community quarantine classification already banned al fresco and indoor dining, while the ECQ will only allow essential services and trips.

The decision to reimpose strict quarantine restrictions came after the Metro Manila Council met with the national government’s Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) to appeal for the imposition of stricter measures.
