In a blog post, Facebook said that it was celebrating Messenger’s 10th birthday.

Facebook’s Vice President of Messaging Products for Messenger Loredana Crisan said that they’re grateful to those who joined them in creating 10 years of memories built from countless chat threads, sharing memes, late-night video calls, and picking out the perfect sticker or emoji to capture the mood.

To start, Facebook was trying its hand at a new category of game on Messenger called “Poll Games”. The said feature will include a section for “Most Likely To” wherein friends in the group chat can answer questions.

With Messenger’s new update, users in the United States can now send cash over Facebook Pay via Messenger easier with integration from Facebook’s birthday calendar.

According to Facebook, users will be notified on Messenger and Facebook with a gift message wrapped and accompanied by virtual balloons when someone sent a cash gift for their birthday.

Facebook was also introducing a new Birthday theme, AR effect, and birthday Soundmoji as well.

Messenger will also gain a new “Word Effects” feature that will allow users to pair words with emoji. Users can set the trigger word in their chat and that emoji will make a full-screen effect over their chat when it was used.

According to Facebook, the said feature will soon be coming to Messenger.

Facebook was also making it easier to share Facebook contacts with friends over chat with a new “Share Contact” action. The said feature made sharing a friend’s profile as simple as sharing a photo or post.
