Illegal sale of COVID-19 drugs
A woman in Naga City has been arrested by the authorities for allegedly selling COVID-19 medications.
The suspect identified as Cecilia Catacutan is a resident of Barangay Pequeña.
According to Police Major Maria Luisa Calubaquib, Bicol police spokesperson, she was arrested in an entrapment operation.
The suspect has been a subject of surveillance for allegedly selling medications against COVID-19 without the prescription of doctors.
She was caught in the act at around 12:05 p.m. for selling Ivermectin and Lianhua medicines worth P16,000 to an undercover agent inside the administrative office of the Centro Square Building in Barangay San Francisco.
Catacutan yielded 200 capsules of Ivermectin and 20 boxes containing Lianhua medicines.
She’s an unlicensed pharmaceutical sales representative.
Based on the report, she’s selling medicines against coronavirus either by in-person transaction or online.
The medicines confiscated by the authorities were brought to the Department of Health’s Food and Drug Authority (FDA) in Naga City for evaluation of authenticity and verification.
