Soldier Who Survived the C-130 Crash in Sulu Tests Positive for COVID-19

One of the soldiers who survived the crash of the C-130 plane of the Philippine Air Force (PAF) in Patikul, Sulu on Sunday tested positive for COVID-19.

COVID-19 is characterized by flu-like symptoms such as fever, difficulty in breathing, cough, and other respiratory problems but a patient may also be positive for the disease even without showing any signs.

The soldier is in critical condition and has been placed in the intensive care unit of the Zamboanga City Medical Center (ZCMC).

The soldier sustained burns to several parts of his body.

Meanwhile, up to 17 survivors of the plane crash are confined to the ZCMC.

On Monday, the death toll rose to 52 from the crash of the C-130 plane.

96 military personnel boarded the C-130 plane were deployed against the Sulu-based faction of the Abu Sayyaf.

The plane crashed while still landing in Patikul.

President Rodrigo Duterte assured that the government will extend assistance to wounded soldiers and the family of personnel who died in the C-130 crash.
