President Duterte to reporter: “Will ABS-CBN campaign against me?”
On Thursday, President Rodrigo Duterte asked ABS-CBN reporter if the network will be campaigning against him if he will run in the upcoming 2022 elections.
This, as it seemed like President Duterte wasn’t yet over with his beef with broadcast media giant ABS-CBN.
During the inauguration of the Light Rail Transit (LRT) Line 2 East Extension Project in Antipolo City last Thursday, ABS-CBN reporter Joyce Balancio sought clarification from President Duterte if he has decided to run for vice president in the upcoming 2022 elections.
Instead of answering the question directly to her, President Duterte asked Balancio if ABS-CBN was expecting him to lose.
“You are from ABS-CBN?… So ABS-CBN is expecting me to — to lose because they will campaign against me?” he asked Balancio.

In response, Balancio explained that there’s nothing more to her question. Balancio told the President that she’s following up a story regarding a possible vice presidency that he might seek since he had mentioned some of his sentiments in his previous public speeches.
President Duterte then answered Balancio by saying that his remarks were just “posturing” because he didn’t want to be treated like a “lame duck” by others just because he’s about to step down.
President Duterte’s statement came after floating the idea that he might run for vice president in the upcoming 2022 elections.
