Instagram introduced its new Sensitive Content Control feature.
Instagram recently introduced its new Sensitive Content Control feature which would let users aged 18 years old and above choose whether they wanted to see more or less sensitive content.
The said feature was available under Instagram’s settings page, “Account”, and “Sensitive Content Control”. Users can choose between “Allow”, “Limit (by default)”, or “Limit Even More”.
- Allow: Users may see more videos and photos that could be offensive or upsetting
- Limit (by default): Users may see some videos and photos that could be offensive or upsetting
- Limit Even More: Users may see fewer videos and photos that could be offensive or upsetting
According to Instagram, it’s giving more control over the videos and photos users saw on the Explore page.
“We believe people should be able to shape Instagram into the experience that they want. We’ve started to move in this direction with tools like the ability to turn off comments or Restrict someone from interacting with you on Instagram,” Instagram said in a blog post.
Instagram added that the only exception for the said function was that the “Allow” option will not be available to users under 18 on the app.

The company also reiterated that it didn’t allow bullying, hate speech, or other content that might “present a risk of harm to people”.
“This new feature gives you control over sensitive content. You can decide to leave things as they are or you can adjust the Sensitive Content Control to see more or less of some types of sensitive content,” Instagram said.
