Roque to 1Sambayan nominees: “I wish them the best kaso …”
On Monday, Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque wished the 1Sambayan nominees for the 2022 elections “the best” while saying that the opposition coalition was facing an uphill battle.
In an interview on Unang Balita, Roque said that only Vice President Leni Robredo and former Senator Antonio Trillanes IV accepted their nomination.
“Dalawa lang ang tumanggap, si Vice President Robredo at former Senator Trillanes. I wish them the best kaso mukhang mahirap talaga ang kausa ng 1Sambayan kasi karamihan ng na-nominate [ay] tumanggi,” Roque said.
It was last June 12 when 1Sambayan bared their nominees for president and vice president as follows: Vice President Leni Robredo, Senator Grace Poe, former Senator Antonio Trillanes IV, CIBAC party-list representative Eddie Villanueva, lawyer Chel Diokno, and Batangas Representative Vilma Santos-Recto.
Of these, only Trillanes and Robredo didn’t decline their nomination.

Meanwhile, Roque confirmed in the same interview that President Rodrigo Duterte was urging television host Willie Revillame to run for senator or even president.
Roque also said that President Duterte has yet to schedule a meeting with PDP Laban party-mate Senator Manny Pacquiao, who had asked for a meeting amidst the “simple misunderstanding” within the ruling party.
