PLDT continued to be the leader in the home business as its fiber-to-the-home ports have reached 700,000 across the country, increasing its capacity to 10.2 million homes.

Butch G. Jimenez, Senior Vice President and Head of PLDT Home Business, said that despite restrictions implemented because of the coronavirus pandemic, the group had been “relentless” in boosting its network.

Powered by the fastest broadband in the Philippines, our customers can work, study, earn, and enjoy better at home,” Jimenez said.

Also, PLDT claimed that it had the most extensive and advanced digital transport network in the country with 25 core data centers, 3 cable landing stations, and 15 international submarine cable networks.

PLDT-Smart Senior Vice President for Network Planning and Engineering Mario Tamayo also said in a statement that network upgrades were necessary to support the growing needs of PLDT Group’s customers for data.

According to Tamayo, they continuously expanded and upgraded their network in order to serve their customers’ growing demand for data and to support all of their internet delivery platforms such as mobile data services through 4G and 5G, fiber fixed broadband, and carrier-grade Wi-Fi.

Last December, PLDT chief revenue officer and Smart Communications President and CEO Alfredo Panlilio said that the group may invest between PHP 88 billion to PHP 92 billion this year.
