Dave Moffatt: “Covering ‘Ikaw’ was my idea!”
Canadian singer Dave Moffatt talked about his version of Yeng Constantino’s hit OPM single, Ikaw.
Dave is a member of the boy band, The Moffatts, which is composed of his siblings; Scott, Clint, and Bob.
It was in 1998 when the group visited the country to perform.
Dave has always been fond of the Philippines, that’s why he tried to do a cover of a Tagalog song.
“Covering ‘Ikaw’ was my idea! I heard the song when I visited the Philippines in 2017 and thought it was beautiful. I didn’t know what it meant at the time, but the melody and emotion of the song connected with me,” he said.
According to Dave Moffatt, as a way to thank his Filipino fans, he came up with a cover of Ikaw.
Dave’s version of the hit OPM single earned massive praises and applause from the netizens. Even the original singer and composer no less than Yeng Constantino called his version “beautiful.”
Despite the pandemic, Dave Moffatt has been busy recording and singing.
“I have been holding up as best as can be expected. I pray for everyone to stay safe and careful until this moment of difficulty is behind us all,” he said.
He is looking forward to learn more Tagalog songs.
