The Department of Health (DOH) said that all COVID-19 vaccines were effective in preventing the severe form of the viral illness and hospitalization.

Let’s get the vaccine. Let us not be doubtful. Let’s give that confidence…

Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire allayed the public’s concern on the effectiveness of Sinovac COVID-19 vaccine during a media forum after it was reported that at least 300 Indonesian healthcare workers had tested positive for COVID-19 despite being fully vaccinated using the said vaccine.

Vergeire also said that the reports about the Indonesian healthcare workers needed more studies before making a final conclusion. Also, Vergeire reminded the public to be “cautious” in interpreting data about COVID-19 vaccines.

Meanwhile, the Department of Health continued to insist on the use of face shield in the Philippines, especially in enclosed spaces.

According to Vergeire, wearing face shields had proven to be effective because it covered the whole face, nose, mouth, and eyes and it also prevented the droplets from landing on someone’s face.
