American DJ and producer Skrillex recently wiped his Instagram account and fans speculated that he will announce something in the coming days.

YourEDM reported that an artist wiping their Instagram, as innocuous as it might be in the real world, usually means “some sort of announcement in the music world”.

AREA21 (Martin Garrix and Maejor) previously wiped their joint Instagram account and then announced their debut album; Louis The Child previously wiped their Instagram account and then announced their new tour; and Swedish House Mafia (Axwell, Steve Angello, and Sebastian Ingrosso) previously wiped their Instagram account and then announced a slew of shows and festival dates.

Recently, Skrillex wiped his Instagram as well. Last June, Skrillex wiped nearly all of it, but this was the first time that all of his posts were gone.

What’s interesting was that he changed his profile picture wherein it depicted a prompt to “add music here”. This fueled the rumors that he will release new music or a new album in the coming days.

Prior to this, Skrillex released his track “Kliptown Empyrean” on YouTube and it already has over 2.7 million views as of this writing.

Meanwhile, The Chainsmokers (Alex Pall and Drew Taggart) wiped out their Instagram account last year and left a note to their supporters. After more than a year of being inactive on Instagram, The Chainsmokers announced the list of tour dates (see photo below) on their Instagram Stories.

To recall, The Chainsmokers shared that they’re ready to play their new music from their upcoming fourth album “TCS4” once the public “see our faces” on Instagram.
