Reports of invalid Ivermectin prescriptions will be endorsed to the PRC, according to DOH.
The Department of Health (DOH) on Friday said that reports of invalid Ivermectin prescriptions will be “officially endorsed” to the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC).
In a report on GMA News Online, the Department of Health said that reports of invalid prescriptions issued during the distribution of the said drug will be “officially endorsed” to the Professional Regulation Commission.
The agency said in a statement that it will forward the reports to the Professional Regulation Commission in order to determine their veracity and to “impose sanctions as deemed necessary, based on existing laws”.
“Those who received the prescriptions and the drugs [may] report any invalid prescriptions to the Professional Regulation Commission, and any adverse reactions to the FDA at (02) 8809-5596 or pharmacovigilance@fda.gov.ph,” the DOH said.

Members of the Concerned Doctors and Citizens of the Philippines wrote prescriptions on a blank bond paper instead of a prescription pad during an Ivermectin distribution project led by Representatives Mike Defensor and Rodante Marcoleta.
Health Secretary Francisco Duque III pointed out that prescriptions must contain the name, professional registration number, address, and tax receipt number of the prescriber as well as the patient’s name, gender, age, and date of prescription, among others.
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) had recently launched an investigation on the allegations.

Also, the agencies maintained that current evidence didn’t support the use of the said drug as a COVID-19 treatment.
The Food and Drug Administration in the United States (US FDA), World Health Organization (WHO), European Medicines Agency (EMA), and Ivermectin manufacturer Merck didn’t support the use of the said drug as a COVID-19 treatment as well.
