President Duterte: “Government is busy doing everything”
President Rodrigo Duterte on Thursday told Filipinos that the national government was giving its best in the pandemic response.
During his Talk to the People in Malacañang, President Duterte expected the coronavirus pandemic to drag on much longer as he once again blamed the global supply shortage for the slow arrival of COVID-19 vaccines in the Philippines.
President Duterte gave a grim warning to Filipinos, saying that the public should brace for more coronavirus deaths.
“There is no sufficient supply to inoculate the world. Matagal pa ‘to. Sabihin ko sa’yo, marami pang mamamatay dito,” President Duterte said.

The Philippines recorded over 100 coronavirus deaths daily for the past 7 days, totaling nearly 1,500 over the said period. Nationwide, COVID-19 had killed a total of 15,594 people in the country, with the case fatality rate standing at 1.72 percent.
However, President Duterte told Filipinos not to fear even with his warning, saying that his administration was giving its best in the coronavirus pandemic response.
“Do not be afraid. Government is working. Government is busy doing everything,” President Duterte said.
The Philippines’ COVID-19 tally breached 900,000 on Thursday with more than 11,000 newly confirmed coronavirus infections. Of this number, some 183,000 were currently ill patients.
