In a report on CNN Philippines, Durante said that not all PSG members were vaccinated against COVID-19 after over a hundred PSG personnel recently contracted the coronavirus disease.

Durante told CNN Philippines that President Duterte’s security “reached a peak” of 126 active cases over the past week and the alarming rise in coronavirus infections not just among PSG members but in Metro Manila as well prompted the Presidential Security Group to recommend the postponement of the President’s activities for the week – including the President’s regular “Talk to the People” address.

Metro Manila, where Malacañang was located, had been placed under enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) along with four nearby provinces because of the surge in coronavirus cases.

Meanwhile, Durante said that the number of PSG members battling COVID-19 was down to 41 as of April 8, 2021.

Durante reiterated that most of those infected were assigned to man the Malacañang gates and not one of them was among President Duterte’s close-in security.

Also, Durante said that majority of the patients haven’t received their COVID-19 vaccine doses. However, Durante didn’t say how many PSG members had been inoculated.

Not all personnel have been immunized yet with any vaccine but some of the personnel were already immunized. But I could say that statistically, most of those who haven’t been immunized yet were the ones who were infected by the virus, mostly,” Durante told CNN Philippines’ News Night.

Moreover, Durante said that all infected PSG members were asymptomatic or weren’t showing flu-like symptoms.
