Legendary Entertainment was working on a live-action adaptation of Sunrise’s Gundam for Netflix, which will be directed by Jordan Vogt-Roberts.

In a report on Yugatech, Legendary Entertainment was first announced to be working with Sunrise on the live-action adaptation of the said film last 2018.

Recently, a tweet from Netflix updated the public that Jordan will produce and direct Legendary’s first-ever live-action adaptation that will feature the film version of Sunrise’s Gundam for Netflix.

Jordan had previously directed “Kong: Skull Island” for Legendary, making more than USD 566 million at the worldwide box office.

Besides, Brian K. Vaughan was working on the said project as a writer and executive producer as well, with Cale Boyter overseeing on behalf of Legendary Entertainment with the Sunrise creative team.

Yugatech also reported that the massively popular Mecha anime and science fiction media franchise was Sunrise’s multi-billion-dollar property created in 1979 and had produced a multi-platform universe encompassing manga, televised anime, video games, animated films, toys, plastic models, and novels, among other media.

Gundam remained to dominate Bandai Namco’s earnings almost 40 years after its origin.

As per the report, there’s no other news yet from Netflix about the actual plot for the live-action adaptation of the said film. However, the original Gundam series was set in an era in which humanity had to emigrate to space colonies because of its rapid population growth.
