Following the successful interconnection service between the two telecommunications companies, Globe Telecom on Monday said that their consumers would be able to send SMS and to make domestic mobile calls to DITO subscribers and vice versa.

In a statement, Globe Telecom said that the interconnection for fixed landline was also on-going.

According to Globe Telecom, the Philippines had a law that mandated telecommunications companies to follow “compulsory interconnection” for fully integrated and universally accessible network.

This effort is a reflection of Globe’s commitment to fair and healthy competition in the telco industry, as well as its adherence to the rules and regulations prevailing in competition and telecom laws,” Globe General Counsel Atty. Froilan Castelo said.

To recall, Globe Telecom announced the deal it signed with DITO Telecommunity for mobile calls and SMS interconnection last February. DITO Telecommunity had also signed an interconnection deal with PLDT Inc.

Earlier, DITO, Globe, and PLDT signed a deal to establish a clearinghouse in order to impose phone number portability. The national government was also encouraging telecommunications companies to take full advantage of its common towers initiative.

Meanwhile, the country’s third telco had unveiled its new “High-Speed Data” promo after expanding its mobile services to selected areas in the Philippines, boasting 25GB of “High-Speed Data” for only PHP 199 for 30 days.

According to DITO Telecommunity Chief Administrative Officer Adel Tamano, subscribers will enjoy unlimited DITO-to-DITO calls and texts, video over LTE (VoLTE), call forwarding, call waiting, and 300 mins calls and unlimited texts to other mobile networks aside from the data allocation.
