Unused data can be convertible to reward points or GCash credit in order to “maximize” their money’s worth, according to Globe Telecom.
In a report on ABS-CBN News, Globe Telecom said that mobile prepaid and postpaid subscribers can convert unused data into GCash credit or reward points in order to “maximize” their money’s worth.
Globe Deputy Chief Commercial Officer Issa Cabreira said that the “GB to Points” feature allowed prepaid and postpaid users to convert their unused data into reward points that can then be used in order to redeem other products.
Reward points, according to Cabreira, now “are as good as cash”, adding that data can also be converted into GCash.
According to Cabreira, subscribers can use their data for other things if they won’t use it. Cabreira also said that they’re committed to bring digital innovations that could really help the lives of Filipinos.
“Kung hindi mo magamit, magagamit mo sa ibang bagay… Mapapakinabangan mo siya, walang sayang, walang tapon. Lalo na sa panahon ngayon na lahat ng tao nago-optimize. We’re committed to bring digital innovations na talaga na makakatulong sa buhay ng mga Pilipino. We really want to break barriers and make it really accessible to Filipinos. We know how essential the internet is in their daily lives,” Cabreira said.

Globe Telecom also said that mobile prepaid and postpaid subscribers can avail of the conversion feature using the Globe Rewards app or Globe One app.
Here are the sample data conversion rates:
- 1GB = 1 reward point (for prepaid users)
- 1GB = 10 reward points (for postpaid users)
- 3GB = 3 reward points (for home prepaid WiFi users)
Reward points, according to Cabreira, can be used to avail of other “relevant” services during the new normal such as GrabFood deliveries, Viu subscriptions, gaming or Lazada credits.
